Corner Housing Project in the Centre of the Village

Situation: Santanyí

The commission was a study of possibilities for some old buildings in the village, with the peculiarity of constituting an important corner of the urban fabric.

The different uses, circulation, and ventilation/views of the different spaces were analysed, and based on that, 2 proposals were made for the owners to choose from.

On the one hand, a reform proposal where the most important traditional elements were valued and maintained and two differentiated courtyards were created, with the importance of the entrance courtyard as a filter element between the street and the house, thus separating it from noise and giving the house greater privacy without limiting the entry of natural light.

At the same time, a more intimate rear patio was created with the possibility of accommodating a small pool.

The second proposal consisted of a complete demolition and new construction with a completely different geometry to create a larger single rear patio.
